It was shocking not to see IIM A. In the top 10 list there are 4 colleges from Australia alone and 3 from Singapore. Sourec - ET.

IIM - B hikes fees.

IIM Bangalore has hiked fees by Rs 25,000/ - for new batch.
The fee has been increased by Rs.25,000 to Rs.5.25 lakh from Rs.5 lakh for 2009-10 and by Rs.50,000 to Rs.5.75 lakh from Rs.Rs.5.25 lakh for the second year (2010-11).
On the other hand The institute is also increasing the seed fund for giving loans to deserving students to Rs.20 million from Rs.10.5 million.
With student intake for PG and other management programmes being increased every year, the B-school is investing Rs.450 million in expanding its infrastructure such as lecture halls, library, hostels and faculty rooms.

Thousand odd colleges added during Recession.

A common wisecrack among engineering aspirants in Andhra Pradesh has it that every second building in the state is an engineering college. That may cease to be a joke when institutes dishing out management and engineering degrees start mushrooming all over the country.

Global depression may have taken the wind out of campus placements, but the rush for starting professional institutions is at an all-time high. Data from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the regulatory body for professional technical education, shows that the dash to start professional colleges is more pronounced when it comes to engineering and management as compared to other streams like pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology or architecture.

The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has received a total of 886 applications for starting engineering colleges and 1,084 applications for new management institutes. Five Indian states-Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala-account for almost 69% of the country's engineering graduates, indicating that these states also have most of India's engineering colleges.TOI

This number is not at all small it is a huge number. But what India needs at present is Quality Education to compete with global Universities.
